“To be beautiful means to be yourself.” -Thich Nhat Hanh. A simple quote that resonates deeply with me. Therapy is your safe space to heal from the past, grow in the present, and make changes for the future. Each individual is unique, holding strengths and qualities that are their own. My role is to support and empower you to live authentically by providing warmth, empathy, and a holistic approach to therapy.
My educational and professional backgrounds prepared me to view mental health on a systemic level, allowing me to meet clients where they are at by tailoring to their individual needs. I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, both from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I have experience working with adults in community mental health navigating through trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship, career transitions, and self-esteem concerns, among other challenges.
In addition to these areas, I am committed to providing inclusive and affirming therapy to individuals of all backgrounds by creating a safe space for individuals to process their emotions, feel heard, and empower them to move toward the life they desire. I take a person-centered approach to therapy, utilizing different evidence-based modalities tailored to your specific needs. I use a trauma-focused, culturally affirming, and inclusive lens, utilizing modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment-based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, and Psychodynamic Therapy.
Ultimately, my goal is to empower all of my clients to lean into their strengths and implement tools that will help them navigate the world in a lasting and meaningful way. I am passionate about supporting adults and adolescents with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and more. I have a strong interest and deep understanding of the complexities of ADHD, including cognitive and emotional difficulties, the often-overlooked impact of a late diagnosis, and gender and cultural impacts on presentation. Thank you and have a great weekend!
Warmly, Heena Pithadia
