Dr. Elizabeth K. Gomez, PsyD, serves as a Pre-Licensed Psychologist at New Insights Behavioral Health Services. She received her BA in Psychology at Oral Roberts University and her doctorate from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at National Louis University. Dr. Gomez specializes in trauma across the lifespan, substance use disorders, gender‑related issues, and the integration of faith into therapy. Many of the clients she works with have learned to cope by staying strong, independent, or emotionally guarded—often shaped by early life experiences, cultural expectations, or the need to survive—and are now seeking a space where they can slow down and better understand themselves. She has a particular interest in working with men around issues of masculinity and machismo, including emotional expression, self‑worth, and relationships. She strives to create a space where these topics can be explored openly and thoughtfully, without judgment or assumptions.
Dr. Gomez uses an integrative approach, grounded primarily in humanistic and relational therapy. She believes meaningful change happens through a genuine, respectful therapeutic relationship—one where clients feel seen as whole people rather than defined by a diagnosis or problem. Together, therapy focuses on understanding how past experiences have shaped current patterns while also staying connected to what’s happening in the present.
For clients who wish to incorporate faith or spirituality, Dr. Gomez offers space to explore belief, doubt, values, and meaning as part of the therapeutic process, at a pace that feels authentic and supportive.
As a bilingual Latina therapist, Dr. Gomez provides therapy in both English and Spanish and is committed to offering culturally responsive, affirming care. She is mindful of how culture, family roles, gender expectations, and systemic stress can influence how people experience distress and seek support.
